INSTRUCTOR NOTES

In the last several weeks, our School has received several Enquiries about Tai Chi Chair, what it is, and how you might get involved. To be blunt, there's no such thing as Tai Chi Chair. It is just a marketing ploy to get older people involved in something "Exotic" (Tai Chi) and you do it in a chair. (How hard can that be??) It promises amazing results in just a few weeks, but the models they use for results have clearly spent a fair amount of time lifting weights in a conventional gym. Several months before, I saw ads for Chair Yoga. It made the same claims and demonstrated similar, if not identical exercises with similar models and illustrations. Apparently Chair Yoga is yet another marketing ploy. Yoga is not as exotic sounding as it used to be, so they switched the name to get more attention! In other words, there is no such thing as Chair Yoga or Chair Tai Chi!!

If you have a sincere interest in Tai Chi, our Wyoming School teaches authentic classes in the real Art. If your tastes run to Yoga, there are at least a couple places in Cheyenne that teach authentic Hatha yoga classes. Finally, don't forget to consider Square Dancing Clubs as a way to improve deep breathing, leg strength, cardiovascular fitness, balance, overall endurance and have positive Social Interaction. In most cases, it offers much more than the "standard" Rec Center Tai Chi classes I have observed, and what's more - Square Dancing puts a smile on everybody's face!
