BAGUA CH'ANG (8-TRIGRAM PALM)

Sometimes referred to as the Eight-Trigram Palm, Bagua is an internal system that consists of eight short forms often done around a six-foot circle.

The circular motion of the entire body is emphasized and obvious; when done correctly, it has the effect of massaging the whole body - inside and out. This promotes circulation, leg strength, flexibility and an overall flowing movement.

This forms the vocabulary for martial skill that cannot easily be attacked or defended against - according to the old masters.

As mentioned before, the entire system can be performed on a six-foot circle. Thus it is attractive to serious students with limited space in which to exercise, or who lack the time or ability to travel to a public training facility.

In any case, it confers all the benefits of its close relative - Tai Chi Ch'uan - and then some.
