SHAOLIN-BASED MARTIAL ARTS
W
e are privileged to teach several Chinese Martial Arts, including the famous Shaolin Kung Fu that is noted for its five-animal forms and its many weapons. While interesting to study, we feel one of the biggest advantages of studying Shaolin is the large number of Personal Development programs that are available to the serious student.
For example, we can teach the Muscle Change and the Sinew Change classics, which were a closely-held Secret of that School; so secret that it almost disappeared in the last generation. It is a foundational program that enhances whole-body strength and modifies the Internal Body function.
Another program is Iron Vest, which causes the student's body to become resilient and resistant to impact or injury. Yet another program is the Iron Palm which concentrates the body Chi (Vital Energy) in the palms for superior overall Health, Strength and Striking Power.
Because our Chief Instructor is a Licensed Acupuncturist, students all have access to a number of proprietary Herb Programs as well.
It should be clear that an authentic Shaolin Kung Fu program spends a fair amount of time building and enhancing the overall health of its students. Without these programs the oft-repeated criticism of Chinese methods being "Flowery Hands" and "Embroidered Legs" is partially true in some cases. While Shaolin practitioners are known for their Fighting Skills, they are also respected for their Longevity.
It's safe to say they didn't acquire either from Sparring or endless Forms (Kata).
