HSING-I CH'UAN (MIND-FORM FIST)

Hsing-I (Form of Mind) boxing has been a perennial favorite of many of our students at the CCMA/WCMA. As the name implies, the target of the training is primarily the Mind, instead of the Body. The physical system consists of five very short linear forms, based on the five elements of Chinese acupuncture. They are performed at various speeds with absolute focus and clear intention.

As internal training goes, Hsing-I is one of the few internal systems that looks like a martial art when performed correctly. However, it lacks the stifling muscle tension and stiffness that is found in the more common martial methods such as Karate. The relaxed, Coordinated movements of Hsing-I are unmistakable!

According to the martial author and researcher Robert Smith, "Hsing-I is one of the most complete systems of self-defense ever devised." Officially our School refuses to take a stand on this assessment. However our students all agree that Hsing-I training has opened doors and provided many perspectives in their martial training...

Finally, Hsing-I is considered to be a close relative of both Tai Chi and Bagua. All the Health and Healing benefits that accrue with one are present in all. As the Chinese are wont to say, "There are many Ways up the Mountain".
