TAI CHI CH'UAN (GRAND ULTIMATE FIST)

This is not your grandmother's Tai Chi.

Real Tai Chi is a fighting method, par excellance.

It is a Strengthening Program for the whole body.

It can be a healing method for a variety of ailments, such as arthritis, depression, insomnia, digestive issues and more.

Finally, it is a direct method to discover, develop and utilize your Chi (Essential Energy) for Long-Term Strength, Vibrant Health and Longevity.

Having said all that, it is probably one of the most misunderstood of all the Chinese martial systems.

Exactly what Chi is, how to develop it, and how to use it seems to be a mystery to the overall Martial Community in the U.S. As a result, the greatest number of Tai Chi classes, in our experience, consist of nothing more than well-meaning but gullible students slowly waving their hands in the air in a "Monkey see, Monkey do" format.

Our Chief Instructor likes to draw a parallel between so-called "Modern Tai Chi" instruction and race car instruction. Just because you own a Porsche R-3 and are regularly seen posing in it does not mean you are a competent race car driver. But, for many wanna-be students, appearances are EVERYTHING. Not so at our School!

As previously inferred, Tai Chi Ch'uan is often recognized for its ability to confer vibrant health. That is absolutely true, but it takes time and effort to build that into a body. Our Chief Instructor often recommends older people consider taking up square dancing instead. The immediate result of Deep Breathing, Improved Respiration, Brisk Walking, Better Balance, Leg Strength and Positive Social Interaction may be more to the taste of what many people are really looking for.

That being said, at the C.C.M.A./W.C.M.A., a student can expect to receive a thorough introduction to the real Art and actually acquire the skill and knowledge necessary to allow one to progress and grow in the Art for a Lifetime.

The Tai Chi benchmark of "moving a thousand pounds with only four ounces of strength" is well within the scope of any of our sincere beginning students.

There's nothing mysterious about Tai Chi. However it only lives up to its lofty reputation as the Grand Ultimate Chinese Art with knowledgeable and competent instruction.
